SACRAMENTO, CA – BloodSource and Univision 19 will once again join forces to save lives at Día de Donar Sangre on June 6 at Cal Expo - Buildings C & D from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parking is free for blood drive participants through the East Gate. Blood drive participants will receive one California State Fair admission ticket, a unique 2014 Día de Donar Sangre T-shirt and MyBloodSource Rewards. The best way to save lives is to donate blood, and the best way to have fun will be by going to the California State Fair with top-notch entertainment and first-rate, blue ribbon California competitions of outstanding quality.
Each year, blood donors enjoy Día de Donar Sangre traditions such as Univision 19 live broadcasts, rhythmic music and treats from Chick-fil-A throughout the day.
BloodSource Director of Operations, Meredith Spencer says, "Día De Donar Sangre is a very important event to help ensure a safe and plentiful blood supply during the summer months. Univision 19 is a fantastic community partner and helps BloodSource reach new blood donors each year. These new donors will save many lives – maybe yours or mine, family or friends, neighbors or colleagues — throughout their lifetimes."
The annual blood drive, supported by Univision 19, the largest Spanish-speaking media organization in the region, educates the Hispanic community about the importance of donating blood and joining the national marrow registry, Be The Match. Hispanic donors have a higher incidence of Blood Type O which is the most requested blood type product from hospitals supporting patients in need.
Be the Match marrow registration will be offered giving participants another way to save lives of patients who struggle with blood disease.
Join BloodSource and Univision 19 on June 6, 2014 for a day that offers great hope for patients and their families, plus blue ribbon fun with a ticket to the CA State Fair from July 11 – 27.
